and yesterday, at Broadturn Farm in Scarborough, Maine, she walked down the aisle as the bride.
The farm was a beautifully casual setting, with fields of wildflowers, a beehive and the prettiest outhouse I've ever encountered. My AT tent mates, Liz and Peg would have appreciated the elegance of this building for sure. It put our "pee shanty" and "poo loo" to shame.
To complete the rustic feel there was an outdoor sink. It was adorned with a bouquet which attracted a honeybee who decided to get a sip of water at the tap. Although it made an interesting picture, I could have done without the bee hanging around.
Tiffani and Mark held the ceremony in a beautiful small barn filled with white folding chairs, rustic beams, a wide wood plank floor and spiders, one of which attempted to crawl up the back of Tiffani's dress during the ceremony. It was my uncle John, formerly of NCIS and the Secret Service, to the rescue. He confidently rose from his seat in the third row, briskly strode to the bride, dispatched the spider with one swipe and a stomp and the wedding continued on smoothly. The reception was held just outside the barn under a white canopy at the end of a gorgeous summer day with handmade decorations, made in large part by Tiffani's sister-in-law, Meghan. There were tacos for supper and in lieu of cake, there was an assortment of gelato from The Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick. While in line for the tacos, Tell disappeared. Unknown to me, he had been eyeing one of the storebought smooth river rocks that was placed on the pile of napkins. He returned with a rock of comparable size from the driveway and quickly swapped the two, saying "I really like thith rock. I'm gonna bring it home so I I had to get one to replathe it."
Of course the nicest part of the wedding was spending time with the family that came.
Although she was exhausted and in recovery mode today, I know Aunt Suci enjoyed this special day with her family.
I made a promise to Annah that I would only post good photos of her so I was left with only this one of her hand. Sorry, Annah. On a side note about Annah, at one point several of us were engaged in a discussion about my Aunt Cheryl's tattoo and Annah proceeded to inform us that she had given some serious thought to the "what"and "where" of a tattoo. She would have the words "I love you this much" with some type of measuring line placed on her backside. That way, as she got older and her backside got bigger, the "I love you" line would just get wider. Thank you, Annah for one of my heartiest laughs of the evening.
As the sun made its way toward the horizon, Tell asked me to go with him to where the music was, so I ended the evening dancing in the barn with Atira, Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Frank. Tell joined us on the dance floor but only stood, looking at everyone else. I found out later that as he was playing outside the barn earlier, he had been asked by a little girl to come inside and dance. He brushed her off in typical Tell fashion, "No, I don't think so....I'm not much of a dancer person." Well, I'm not much of a dancer either, but it sure was a fun way to end a very nice day!
Congratulations
Tiffani and Mark Furrow!

Bah ha ha! I'm sure I would also have picked up on the privy as an important part of the day!
