Meet the Neighbors
I met a new neighbor this evening. Apparently there was a retirement party at the fire station and Andy from up the road had a bit too much to drink. While sweeping the living room just after 11, I heard the front door open. I thought everyone was already in bed so I was curious. Looking down the stairs, I saw a young man that I didn't recognize. Completely intoxicated, he was mumbling, "I'm just going to take off my shoes" as he proceeded to remove his one shoe. Yes, he was only wearing one. With my expression half confused and half amused, I stated, "Um...this isn't your house." At first I told him that he needed to go home but as soon as the words came out of my mouth, I thought to myself, "He's not going to make it home in that condition." I asked him if he could make it back by himself and he said, "No." I have to say I agreed with his assessment so I had Nolan go down and wake up Jim, who took him home safely. He was extremely apologetic and I have a feeling that one-shoe Andy will have some interesting recollections in the morning. Perhaps it's time to start locking my door at night?

Marching Through the Milestones
This past weekend we celebrated the 40th birthday of friends Jeremy Redlon.......
and Peter Paradis..........
It struck me that this 40th birthday has been a common occurrence among my friends lately. I'm thankful that God has given me so many lifelong friends that I have shared the milestones with, some even from childhood.
Wasn't it only yesterday that I celebrated Mom's 40th birthday before heading off to Australia to get engaged? Now, here I am approaching the same milestone...minus the engaged first-born, thankfully. Time is a funny thing......and 40 is no longer old.
